Sen. Murphy's behavior at State of the Union should be condemned

When did Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., stop appreciating the accomplishments of black Americans?

During the State of the Union Address, every time I saw him Murphy was not standing or applauding the lifelong accomplishments of the Tuskegee Airman General McGee or the aspirations of McGee's great grandson to be an American astronaut. Murphy did not stand and cheer on the dreams of a 7-year-old African American girl and her single-parent mom who simply want a better education to attain the American dream. The Connecticut senator did not stand for the U.S. Marine returning from yet another deployment and recognize the sacrifices he and his family make every day to protect the liberties Chris is supposed to be upholding in Washington D.C. How shameful it is to be represented by a man who puts politics before the hopes, dreams and accomplishments of the American people.

Dishonoring African Americans, our veterans, single parents and children should be condemned.
