• Dylan Foley, assistant wrestling coach at the Coast Guard Academy, has been named the New England Wrestling Association Assistant Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Foley is in just his second year as the assistant wrestling coach at the Academy under head coach Kevin Bratland, who is in his sixth season.

"Dylan has made a tremendous impact in raising the level of Coast Guard wrestling," said Bratland. " It is exciting to see his efforts rewarded."

Coast Guard finished the season ranked seventh nationally. The Bears placed second at the NCAA Division III Northeast Regional for the second straight season, finished 6-2 in dual meets and had six wrestlers qualify for the NCAA Division III Championship before the event was cancelled due to COVID-19.

• The Connecticut College field hockey program as well as several individuals earned recognition from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association for academic excellence. The Camels were most notably one of more than 100 Division III programs to earn the National Academic Team Award for registering a 3.592 team GPA during the 2019 fall semester.

"I am very proud of our team for being recognized with the NFHCA Team Academic Award again this year," said head coach Chrissy Chappell. "Our team grade point average has increased in each of the past six seasons, with this fall semester's mark of 3.592 well above the 3.0 standard for earning this honor. Our field hockey team members truly embrace the title of "student-athlete" and this award is well-deserved recognition for all of them."

In addition to the team award, 15 players on the roster were named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad for maintaining a cumulative GPA of a 3.3 or better — Hannah Falvey, Casey Freehill, Meghan Gazard, Gillian Iacobucci, Logan Kilfoyle, Abby King, Abby Marchand, Andi McGraw, Jackie Mountford, Meghan Murray, Suzy Newton, Sarah Nolan, Courtney Peyko, Sophie Pollinger and Colleen Raftery.

Iacobucci was also recognized as an NFHCA Scholar of Distinction for achieving a cumulative GPA of a 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the academic year.

• Four members of the UConn women's basketball team were named All-Region by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Senior Crystal Dangerfield, junior Megan Walker, sophomore Olivia Nelson-Ododa and sophomore Christyn Williams were named regional for 2020 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America for Region 3.

Dangerfield was a unanimous All-American Athletic Conference First Team selection and was named to the all-tournament team. She averaged 14.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.

Walker was the 2020 AAC Player of the Year and Tournament Most Outstanding Player. In 2019-20, she averaged 19.7 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while ranking eighth nationally with a 45.1 three-point field goal percentage. She was also named an Associated Press and USBWA First Team All-American.

Nelson-Ododa led UConn with 8.5 rebounds per game this season while adding 10.9 points per game. She was named All-AAC Second Team. Nelson-Ododa ranked fourth nationally with 100 total blocks and seventh with 3.13 blocks per game.

Williams averaged 14.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game this season. She was named All-AAC First Team and to the AAC All-Tournament Team.

The 2020 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America team will be announced om Thursday.
