Nursing home staff has been a godsend

COVID-19 has changed all of our lives and for families with loved ones in nursing homes, it has been heartbreaking. Our family has not been able to visit my husband since early March when the facility was closed to visitors. David is hard of hearing and his health issues make it difficult for him to understand what is going on.

Yet, frankly, it was a relief to see the sign on the door stopping visitors in an effort to protect residents from this dreaded disease.

The staff at Fairview has been a godsend. They worked to set up a Facetime system so we could at least connect with Dave on a daily basis and check in, helping to calm his concerns and giving us comfort.

The facility even produced a lovely video providing a snapshot of what it’s like on the inside and letting us know that our loved ones are in good hands. They have kept us updated and could not have done a better job communicating. Southeastern Connecticut is fortunate to have a wonderful facility and caring staff ensuring the safety and well-being of our family members, all while facing the challenges and fears of a pandemic. Our family could not be more appreciative.
