Groton — Neither rain nor the coronavirus could stop Noank's Memorial Day parade this year, though the pandemic did change the format a little.

Organizers Victoria Ragsdale and John Goodrich said it is believed that Noank's Memorial Day parade is the longest-running in Connecticut. They wanted to preserve the tradition this year but, due to the pandemic, instead of a traditional parade they decided to have a Noank Strong Memorial Day Rally on Saturday. They also wanted to bring a little happiness and a sense of normalcy during this time.

With 18 vehicles participating, the convoy traveled through the village honking horns.

The remainder of the holiday weekend was expected to be partly cloudy, with highs in the lower 60s along the shoreline and mid- to upper 60s inland.
