Viral Stories: May 28, 2020

The Times has been asking readers to share stories of living through a pandemic. Here’s a sampling:

On Jan. 31, my son and I took a trip of a lifetime to Mexico, our first time traveling abroad. We were wanting to celebrate life after the unexpected death of his father, my husband, in March 2019. Weeks following our return on Feb. 10, the world as we knew it would be changed forever. We were now under self-quarantine and dreaming of our freedom and celebrations and having mixed feelings about the cause and effect of this pandemic.

We decided to stay in the energy of what we had been discussing with each other on our trip in Cabo San Lucas, creating a life and a world we want to live in by becoming the master of ourselves. Committing to daily studies of music and personal/spiritual growth for my son, and for me, investing in myself through transformational growth work and mentorship. We talked about staying in control and not allowing our circumstance to determine who we become, but being more aware of our thoughts and feelings all the time.

Our relationship has evolved while staying home because we both have had the time together to decide that we would stay in the energy of creating a life and a world we want to live in by not letting our circumstances control our thoughts and our feelings. Our fears became our lessons of what we want to change within ourselves and in our world.

I see this as a lesson in enhancing relationships and an opportunity to create a new life with stronger bonds to one another because all we have is this moment in time right now! What are we going to do with it?
