GRAND OPENING

Title IX: A Pop-Up by Bank Square Books has opened at 345 State St. next to the Garde Arts Center. Title IX will be open through the holiday season, carrying a selection of bestsellers, children's titles, and books with a focus on social justice themes.

GIVING

Wireless Zone is collecting monetary donations and non-perishable food items for their Annual Holiday Food Drive. 100% of the money collected goes to purchasing food for those in need and Wireless Zone matches what they collect. Over the years, Wireless Zone has donated to the Gemma Moran United Way Food Bank, Interfaith Human Services of Putnam (part of Connecticut Food Bank), and Johnnycake Center of Westerly. Donations are being collected through Nov. 25 at all seven Wireless Zone stores: North Windham, Glastonbury, Putnam, New London, Groton, and Westerly. This group is all locally owned and operated by Neil Ryan and Scott Gladstone/

Jewett City Savings Bank and The Jobs for New England Recovery Grant Program have donated $20,000 to Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce. The Jobs for New England Recovery Grant Program was offered by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston to member financial institutions in 2020 to assist small businesses and non-profit organizations that have experienced significant losses due to the pandemic. As a member, Jewett City Savings Bank was able to reserve grant funds for eligible organizations in the bank's service area. 

HONORS

Mystic KOA campground has earned the 2021 KOA President's Award and KOA Founder's Award, which were were presented Nov. 17 at KOA's Annual International Convention. The KOA Founder's Award, named in honor of Dave Drum, who founded KOA on the banks of the Yellowstone River in Billings, Montana in 1962, is KOA's highest service award. It is awarded exclusively to those KOA campground owners and managers who attain world-class scores in both customer service and the KOA Quality Review. For more information, go to www.KOA.com.
