Underway on barque Eagle for Naval Academy Prep students

Students from the Naval Academy Preparatory School form up Friday, April 9, 2021, on a foggy Pier 7 at Fort Trumbull State Park before getting underway on board the U.S. Coast Guard barque Eagle for a day sail on Long Island Sound. This is the first time Eagle has hosted candidates from NAPS in Newport, which sends its students to the U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. The midshipman and cadet candidates rotated through a variety of Eagle experiences, including climbing the rigging and handling lines. (Sean D. Elliot/The Day)
