Public memorial for Jason Vincent postponed to May 2

A celebration of life for former Norwich Community Development Corp. President and Stonington Town Planner Jason Vincent, originally scheduled for Sunday, is postponed to May 2 due to the weather forecast for rain this weekend.

The celebration will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. May 2 at the Bozrah Farmers’ Market, 45 Bozrah St., Bozrah. Food trucks will be on site for attendees to purchase some of Vincent's favorite foods from 5 to 6 p.m. The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.

The event is open to the public, but RSVPs are requested at www.jvmemories.com. Submissions of photos and memories are being accepted at that website, as well.

Vincent, 46, died Dec. 30 at the New River Gorge National Park in West Virginia. He had worked as director of planning in Stonington from 2002 to 2007 and again from 2016 to 2019. He served as assistant executive director at NCDC from 2012 to 2016 and returned to the agency as senior vice president in October 2019 before being named president in the summer of 2020 upon the retirement of former President Robert Mills.

Vincent led Norwich’s efforts to help businesses respond to the COVID-19 pandemic last spring and summer, helping restaurants establish outdoor dining spots and apply for federal grants and loans. He worked on numerous NCDC projects, including the $3 million downtown revitalization program.

He also was a partner/owner of Epicure Brewing in downtown Norwich.
