An 80-year-old Waterford man has been charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle.

Robert DeSanto was also charged with traveling unreasonably fast. His arrest stems from a November 2020 incident when a Chester man was struck and killed on Niantic River Road.

Joshua Molyneux, 21, was struck at 8:57 a.m. on Nov. 16. He was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital with serious injuries and later pronounced dead, police said. DeSanto, the driver of the vehicle, was not injured.

The police department, fire department, ambulance service and paramedics from L+M responded to the scene. The Waterford police Accident Investigation Team and members of the East Lyme Police Accident Investigation Team investigated the incident.
