Frankie Valli plays Mohegan Sun Friday
It’s hard to imagine, considering how youthful and exuberant his hit songs sound, but Frankie Valli is now 87 years old.
His songs have had lives that have lasted long beyond the first release. “December 1963 (Oh, What a Night),” for instance, came out in 1976 but then hit the top of the 2000 charts in Paris with a — get this — French-language rap version. The 1967 tune “Beggin’” hit #1 on the United Kingdom dance chart in 2007, thanks to disc jockey Pilooski’s re-edit.
And the Four Seasons catalog and backstory have been revived by the Broadway musical “Jersey Boys,” which is still popular around the world. It's so popular that a TV version of it will be filmed soon starring Nick Jonas as Valli.
Valli brings his trove of songs to Mohegan Sun Arena for a Friday concert. Oh, what a night, indeed.
