The Bright Music Festival not only offers good entertainment but it also does good.

This fest, in its sixth year, features live music and aims to provide resources and destigmatize talk about mental health issues. It was founded by a group of Waterford parents concerned about the increase in suicides in America, especially among teens and young adults.

This year’s event happens Sunday at scenic McCook Point in Niantic.

The suggested donation upon admission is modest, at $5, and, even better, all goes toward suicide prevention.

This year’s bands include local environmental activist and folk singer Baird Welch-Collins; Prose and Conns, a student rock band from Connecticut College; and Fleet, which plays indie rock with elements of blues and funk.

There will also be yoga, massage, reiki, henna and reflexology.
