Early morning kitchen fire in Groton displaces one person
Groton — A fire broke out in an apartment kitchen early Wednesday morning, leaving one person displaced from their home, according to fire officials.
Firefighters responded about 6:45 a.m. to the downstairs apartment at 502 Pleasant Valley Road South in the City of Groton, according to the Groton City Fire Department.
One person who lived in the apartment and two people who live upstairs were all able to get out safely, fire officials said.
Firefighters extinguished the fire in less than 10 minutes with the help of the Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department, the Electric Boat Fire Department and the Submarine Base Fire District. No injuries were reported.
Fire officials were investigating the cause.
