East Lyme COVID-19 test kit distribution postponed
East Lyme — A COVID-19 test kit and mask distribution event set for Saturday morning has been postponed due to the impending cold snap.
First Selectman Kevin Seery said officials made the decision to reschedule the event based on the predicted cold and wind chill of minus 10 to minus 20. A new date has not yet been set, though they are working to hold it on a weekday evening or on the weekend.
The town has 1,000 test kits to give out. Rules specify one kit per car. Those who received test kits during the first round on Jan. 3 and 4 are not eligible for additional test kits.
The drive-thru event originally was set to be held at East Lyme Middle School from 8 a.m. until supplies were exhausted. The new date will be shared on the town's social media pages, website and local television access channels.
