Court decision would hurt less affluent

It did not take long for Mitch McConnell to double-down on the Supreme Court's anticipated reversal of Roe by suggesting a "federal ban" on abortion if the court holds firm and Republicans take back control of the Congress in 2024. Of course, he was quick to point out that no such legislation would see the light of dawn if it meant suspending the filibuster. That is hard to swallow. After all, McConnell is the guy who stole one Supreme Court seat and ramrodded through a second in order to ensure the presence of a ready majority to facilitate the hostile takeover of a woman's reproductive rights. So now, not satisfied with a partial victory to punish woman, Mitch wants to ensure that abortion services are not available to anyone anywhere and everywhere.

On its face, all of this nonsense is laughable because it is not going to work, particularly among the wealthy who will ignore it along with the health care professionals who will happily and discreetly provide abortion services just like they did before Roe. But tragically, the less fortunate and affluent will suffer and resort to barbaric alternatives like they did before Roe.
