The region erupts in song Tuesday on Make Music Day

On Tuesday, don't be surprised if you exit your house or apartment and see your next-door neighbor on the porch playing Barber's Adagio for Strings on tuba. Pull into a convenience store for coffee? The clerk makes change while banging a tambourine against his thigh. Weird time signature, too. Is that 7/4?

And what's the whole City Council doing in front of City Hall? They've each got a different instrument, and you know what? They're doing a not-half-bad version of the Stones' "Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)"!

Don't freak! Just grab your own guitar or piccolo or church pipe organ and start playing along because Tuesday is international Make Music Day. Here in our part of the world, that means the Southeastern Connecticut Cultural Coalition has coordinated all sorts of live music events. To find out who's playing where — or to register to be part of it all as a performer or host venue — go to www.makemusicday.org/southeasternct.
