Sapna Khubchandani, MD, MPH, has joined Hartford HealthCare Medical Group Oncology and Hematology. She is a trilingual specialist interested in breast cancer as well as other solid tumors and blood-borne cancers. Khubchandani is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, hospice and palliative medicine. She earned her medical degree from BS Medical College Calcutta University in India and a master's degree from Yale School of Public Health. She also completed a fellowship in medical oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in New York City. She speaks English, Hindi and Sindhi.

Other members of the clinical team there are Drs. Jeffrey Gordon and Valmarie Ramos, and Nicole McKenzie, APRN. Hartford HealthCare Medical Group Oncology and Hematology opened last  year at 196 Parkway South, Suite 303. Referrals can be made by calling 860-443-4455.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held at Victoria Gardens, 105 Boston Post Road, Waterford, last week. Victoria Gardens is new construction of 90 units of elderly housing, including 72 affordable rental housing units, of which 18 units will be set aside as supportive housing units for the chronically homeless, with a preference given to veterans. The 3-story, L-shaped building will have 85 one-bedroom and 5 two-bedroom units, along with community space, and resident service coordinator and supportive services case management space.
