Catskills casino's marketing executives earned stripes at Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun

Resorts World Catskills, the $1.2 billion resort casino that opened ahead of schedule last month in Thompson, N.Y., has assembled an executive marketing team whose members previously worked at Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun.

Robert Victoria is the new casino’s chief marketing officer, a post he held at Foxwoods before his 2011 departure, according to a statement Resorts World issued Wednesday. Victoria has recruited a team that has more than a century’s worth of combined experience in marketing, sales and guest services, the statement says.

The team includes Joseph DeCarlo, vice president of casino marketing; Tara Gregson, vice president of consumer marketing; Ron Caverly, executive director of guest services; and Dino Trombino, director of player development for new markets.

All five of the executives worked at Foxwoods at some point, while three of them — Victoria, Caverly and Trombino — also worked at Mohegan Sun.

Victoria began his gaming career as a host at Foxwoods in 1992 and worked at Mohegan Sun when it opened in 1996, eventually advancing to vice president of casino marketing. He returned to Foxwoods in 2009-11 and, while serving as chief marketing officer, negotiated a series of innovative marketing sponsorships with Madison Square Garden, New York professional sports teams and others.

Gregson worked closely with Victoria as vice president of brand strategy at Foxwoods.
