Website lists Mystic among best small-town destinations
Described as “ripe with seafaring history,” Mystic has earned a spot among Smithsonian.com’s “20 Best Small Towns To Visit in 2018.”
The website of the Smithsonian Institution relied on Esri, a geographical information company, to help sort through U.S. towns with a population under 20,000 and compile a list of 20 that “combine historic elements with distinct cultural offerings, natural beauty” and other features. The list cites Mystic’s shipbuilding past, its food-and-drink scene and its year-round schedule of events, including its inaugural film festival in October.
Other northeast towns listed are Corning, N.Y.; North Conway, N.H.; Skowhegan, Maine, and Latrobe, Pa.
