After a concerted opposition effort by residents and officials in southeastern Connecticut and Rhode Island, the Federal Railroad Administration

removed a proposed high-speed rail bypass between Old Saybrook and Kenyon, R.I., including through the heard of Old Lyme and part of Mystic, from its plans for the Northeast Corridor.
