This is why he’s excited for Thursday night when author Don Richmond does his book signing at Filomenas.

Richmond recently wrote “Waterford Little League: The Early Years.” Richmond details the North and South regular season champions, postseason playoff and all-star results from Waterford’s first year of Little League (1953) to its 20th year (1972) and also includes the 1975 Waterford South All-Star State championship run.

All proceeds from the event will be given to various libraries, Little Leagues and other community related places.

Why would you compare a bunch of unproven high school kids to the greatest recruiting class of all time? The standards are almost impossible. Every time they fail, they’ll be reminded.

How come, “we’re excited about their potential” doesn’t work?

But then, this is where we’ve arrived. The New UConn lauds Paige Bueckers for another NIL deal she signed last week, thus giving her about a dozen more NIL deals than national championships.

• No, Dr. I is still not ready to talk about BC’s recent football loss to Rutgers.

• Major upset recently at a local golf tournament aimed to raise money for St. Bernard athletics.

Seems the foursome of Bill Hannaford, Tim Murray, Shannon Heap and Gordon Videll were given 7.5 strokes by Isaac Lazarou, Brian Egan, Chris Rose and somebody only identified as “Kevin The Ringer.” The Videll group won by two shots without the handicap.

“It shows the game of golf is a mental one,” Videll said.

• Dr. I isn’t really digging the suspension for Ime Udoka.

The Celtics need to get rid of him permanently.

This is not to say he doesn’t deserve a second chance as time passes. Just not with the Celtics. Remember: You don’t get your honey from the same place you get your money.

The suspension suggests that if the interim guy wins a championship, Udoka is expendable. But if the interim guy doesn’t win, there’s room for his return.

Uh, no.

• Let’s see. The Yankees just clinched a playoff berth for the 24th time in the last 28 years. Thirty straight winning seasons.

Notable, when you consider who is finishing last – again – in the division this year.

• Can someone alert this guy Golladay that the season started like three weeks ago?

• Congrats to former Fitch football great (and Dr. I favorite) Nick Helbig, who recently earned his first career NESCAC Player of the Week honor playing for Wesleyan. Helbig had a career-high three sacks, two forced fumbles and seven tackles in a 41-10 win over Bates.

• More congrats: to Scott Banks of the Eastern Board of Approved Football Officials. Banks, an outstanding referee, called some Arena League games over the summer.
