    In the Galleries: ACGOW offers some ‘Small Treasures’

    Throughout the year, the artists at the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly are busy creating small and affordable pieces with the holidays in mind. November’s show, “Small Treasures – the Joy of Giving” will feature two-dimensional and three-dimensional original artworks including paintings, glass, woodwork, pottery, jewelry, fabric, holiday cards and more.

    The show will run from Nov. 1–26 with an opening reception, free and open to the public, from 5-8 Friday, Nov. 3.

    Throughout the months of November and December ACGOW will be collecting donations of new art supplies to be delivered to the Jonnycake Center in time for the holidays. The Jonnycake Center (www.jonnycake.org) is a non-profit that provides food, clothing, educational and financial assistance to those in need in the Westerly-Chariho area. T

    In November, artist member Tammy Blais will offer a two hour class in which each participant will sketch a motif and then produce a finished oil painting using only a palette knife. Class is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 14. The cost is $50 and preregistration is required. Interested persons should contact Tammy@tammyblaisart.com.

    In the gallery’s west wing, visitors will find a shop filled with all manner of small, affordable, one-of-a-kind handmade decorative objects, small paintings, framed and unframed prints, books, journals, and cards specially curated for the season.

    The Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly is located at 14 Railroad Ave. in the historic Westerly Train Station. Updates are made available on the Gallery’s website at westerlyarts.com and on Facebook.
