    Thinking independently

    Tim Heap (submitted)

Hygienic Art presents its first annual Indie Rock Festival Saturday in the venue’s Art Park.

Curated by long time scenester/filmmaker/musician Bill Dumas, and consciously reflecting the New Music Festival shows sponsored by WCNI in the 1980s, the Hygienic gathering aims to inspire a bit of joyous melodic Attitude before the onset of colder weather.

It’s a nice lineup. Post Traumatic Jazz Disorder, Tim Heap, Fleet, Love Shop 23 and the Chris Listori Project will all perform, and it should be an excellent blend of acts that simultaneously showcase a diversity of styles while providing a unified energy.

Hygienic Indie Rock Festival, 6-11 p.m. Saturday, Hygienic Art Park, 79 Bank St., New London; $10, hygienic.org.
