Foxwoods hosts Beerfest
There are plenty of people who grew up like me, spelunking through the hidden crevices of the couch or selling blood to afford beer.
Those were the days!
If that sounds familiar, you probably developed an actual appreciation for cheap beer. Indeed, Texas Pride, Lone Star, Pearl, Dixie, Falstaff, Shiner: those were the bargain brews of my youth.
What I want to happen is for someone to sponsor a Cheap Beer Festival where NO craft beers or other respectable brews are allowed. I suspect the gathering would do really well — and not just because a lot of us ended up really liking what were essentially water-flavored lagers.
Don’t look for any of those brands Saturday when Foxwoods hosts their latest “Beerfest— The Battle of the Brews.” Taking place in the casino’s Rainmaker Expo, the event will feature more than 50 really excellent designer beers along with seltzers, ciders and specialty cocktails.
Food will be available for purchase and attendees can enjoy games and live music as well.
Beerfest — The Battle of the Brews, 2-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Rainmaker Expo, Foxwoods; $45 in advance, $50 at the door, $15 for designated driver; foxwoods.com.
