Studio33 presents “Life’s a Beach”, a collection of paintings by local artists Gigi Mezzo Genovese and Andrea Wiley. Both women focus their paintings on shoreline centric scenes; with Andrea highlighting the beauties of the marshes, beach & lighthouses, while Gigi focuses on making the everyday beach scenes playful, something you might otherwise overlook. The medium each women works in panders particularly well to their individual styles, with bright saturated acrylics in Gigi’s cheerful scenes and soft, thick oil paints capturing Andrea’s peaceful viewpoint. The show is not one to miss, running from July 2nd through the 30th.

ALL NATURAL, an exhibition showcasing the work of artists and fine artisans who incorporate natural materials in their work opens at Spectrum Art Gallery and Artisans Store (June 27 - August 10). The exhibit includes macro photography of the natural world and fine art and crafts using materials such as sea and river glass, encaustic, wood, feathers, spider web, egg tempera and casein. During the six-week show, the Gallery offers free events to the public including a Family Day, Sunday, July 20, (1-5pm) with Art and Nature Workshops, Storytelling, Music and a Scavenger Hunt. Spectrum is the newest expansion of the non-profit arts organization Arts Center Killingworth, whose mission includes providing opportunities for emerging and established artists to display and sell their work.

2014 marks the 40th anniversary of the Connecticut River Museum. In honor of this milestone, the Museum will feature the exhibit Reflections: 40 Years along the River. The exhibit will explore the story of the Museum and highlight the many topics that CRM has explored through exhibits, programs and other activities.
Members are invited to join us the evening of July 11 from 5:00-7:00 for an opening reception, held in conjunction with the Museum’s Annual Meeting. The exhibition will be open to the public daily until October 13.

A Month of Music at the Mansion
Middletown, CT. The Friends of Long Hill Estate will once again host their ‘Music at the Mansion’ series in July at the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown. Opening the 2014 Series on July 2nd will be Goza. On July 9th Eight to the Bar will return to entertain the crowd. Lonely Heartstring Band will perform on the 16th. On July 23rd Brass will be on stage and closing out the season on July 30th will be the Middletown Symphonic Band.
The concerts begin at 6:30 and are free to the public. The grounds will be open for picnicking at 5:30 p.m. Parking will be at the Mansion, at the Wilbert Snow School, 299 Wadsworth Street, and at Mercy High School, 1740 Randolph Road. Concerts will be held in light rain, or the threat of showers.
