Groton-New London Airport hosts open house Saturday

Get an insider's look at the Connecticut Airport Authority Groton-New London Airport during an open house and walking tour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

It's in celebration of National Aviation Day.

People can take a self-guided walking tour indoors and on the airfield ramps, visit displays and see demonstrations, get up close to aircraft of all types and sizes, and talk with pilots and airport operations personnel.

A partial list of 2017 participants includes American Red Cross, Angel Flights, Aviation Career Education Camp, Civil Air Patrol, International Comanche Society Northeast, Sikorsky Autonomous Research Aircraft, USCG International Ice Patrol, and Army National Guard TASMG.

The airport open house and walking tour is a free, family-friendly event. Meet at the airport’s main terminal at 155 Tower Ave., Groton, for welcome, displays, and a map of open sites to visit.
