’Tis the season for the wearing o’ the green. It might not be St. Patrick’s Day proper yet, but New London is getting a jump on the Irish festivities. The Whaling City is hosting its annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday.

Starting at 1 p.m., the procession will step off, with musicians and fire trucks and school kids marching through the downtown streets.

The parade’s grand marshal will be Donna Marie Sullivan Vendetto. She is a lifelong New London resident who taught and was a school administrator for New London public schools for 32 years before retiring. Donna’s maternal great grandparents, Patrick and Ellen Sullivan, emigrated from County Cork, Ireland.
