Earth Day to be celebrated around the region
Earth Day is Sunday, but venues around the region aren’t confining their celebration of all things environmental to a single day.
For instance, Saturday is when an Earth Day Festival happens at McCook Point Beach in Niantic, where there will be everything from animals for folks to see and activities for kids to try. Music will come courtesy of, among others, Steve Elci and Friends and Geoff Kaufman.
On Monday, Waterford Public Library will host an Earth Day program of seed planting for ages 3 and up.
In between, though, on the official Earth Day, folks can do a guided hike of Alewife Cove (meeting at Garden Gateway entrance at Ocean Beach Park in New London); take hikes, greet animals and more at Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center; and participate in family activities and games at Diana’s Field in Lyme's Banningwood Preserve.
