    Groton Fall Festival is Saturday

Sure, summer has its share of entertaining festivals, but autumn is no slouch either. One of those events, the Groton Fall Festival, returns on Saturday with a host of activities that are aimed at being family-friendly.

For the first time, the fest will host a cornhole tournament, starting at noon and with registration at 11:15 a.m.

There are other competitions, too, involving pie-making (judged at 12:30 p.m.) and scarecrows.

Beyond that? Well, expect everything from karate demos to bird exhibitions. About 100 local vendors and business, including artists, artisans and crafters, will be on hand.

And if you get hungry, food trucks will be there to help out.

Groton Fall Festival, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Poquonnock Plains Park, Groton; free.
