St. John, Gore headline Thursday poetry reading in NL

If New London ever decides to create a poster in support of the city's poetry scene, there's no reason Jake St. John and Brian Gore shouldn't be featured front and center.

New London-based and New London-proud, both gentlemen will celebrate their latest books with a night of reading, signing, drinking and music Thursday in — where else? — New London at the Credabel Coral Gallery.

St. John's book is titled "Lost City Highway," and Gore's collection is "Drawn Thread." Both will read from their works, of course, but that's not all. Fellow poets Heather Rae Patterson and  Cassandra Cammarata will also read, and music will stimulate and soothe courtesy of jazz trio CBYD. The evening's host is the e'er eloquent and witty Dave Taylor.

Copies of "Lost Highway" and "Drawn Thread" will be for sale, and there's also a raffle and other surprises.

Poetry Reading, Brian S. Gore and Jake St. John, 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Credabel Coral Gallery, 153 Bank St., New London; $5 suggested donation gets a raffle ticket; (860) 908-8406.
