    Karen Bartone's paintings are featured in Three Rivers Gallery show

    “Pondering,” an exhibition of new oil paintings by Karen Bartone, opens Aug. 27 at the Three Rivers Gallery at Three Rivers Community College in Norwich.

    It remains on view through Oct. 5, and an opening reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 6.

    Bartone’s work focuses on the natural surroundings where she lives in Clinton. She paints in nature, “attempting to catch fleeting colors and light before they change.”

    Bartone holds an MFA from Western Connecticut State University and a BFA from the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. She teaches at Eastern Connecticut State University, Three Rivers Community College and also has run programs at various art centers throughout the state including the Guilford Art Center.

    The Three Rivers Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. The website is www.threerivers.edu/gallery.
