Area musicians fight hunger in concert Friday at Right Path Organic Cafe in NL

    The Carolans (Contributed)

Hot Tuna, Cake, the Strawbs, Meat Loaf, Humble Pie and the Black Eyed Peas are required by the World Food-Named Combos Union to play at least one show a year benefitting food banks or stop-hunger organizations.

In the New London area, we have plenty of civic-spirited musical activists who act in similarly beneficent fashion without having idiotic food names. Several of them will gather and perform Friday at the Right Path Organic Cafe in the latest Hoot for Hunger concert, and all donations benefit the New London Community Meal Center.

    Appearing are: East Lyme Senior Guitar Group (6 p.m.); Hugh Birdsall (6:15 p.m.); Sherwood (6:30 p.m.); Carolans (6:45 p.m.); Sophie Spanner (7 p.m.); Maggie's Guitar (7:15 p.m.); Roy Duncan MacLean (7:30 p.m.); Clayton Allen (7:45 p.m.); Finale (8 p.m.).

That's quite a jambalaya of talent.

Hoot for Hunger, 6 p.m. Friday, The Right Path Organic Cafe, 147 Bank St., New London; free, all donations benefit New London Community Meal Center; (860) 437-9700.
