Ocean Beach welcomes Brewfest at the Beach on Friday
To thirstily read over the list of participants/products for each new Brewfest at the Beach event provides one of those anticipatory, count-down thrills associated with "The Last Week of School" or "Six More Days till Halloween."
Well, Brewfest at the Beach — the twice-a-year festival sponsored by the noble folks at the New London Rotary — takes place Friday at the pavilion in Ocean Beach Park. I've printed out the brewery/beers list and, yes, once again, Rotary's Beer Sorcerer Ed Cramer has done an outstanding job. It'll take me a few days to read all of the available beer, wine and cider options — this looks like a Karl Ove Knausgaard manuscript — but maybe your best bet is to just show up and have a blast.
Music will be provided by the Rhythm Method; there'll be hotdogs and chili and a pizza truck; and Brewfest is a remarkably fun way to welcome fall. And never forget: proceeds go to Camp Rotary, where so many New London middle school kids have been made deliriously happy over the years.
Brewfest at the Beach, 6-9 p.m. Friday, Ocean Beach Park, 98 Neptune Ave., New London; ages 21 and over; $25 advance, $30 gate; newlondonrotary.org.
