      Studio 33 Art & Frame Gallery is pleased to present the Three Friends Exhibit September 9, 2022 – November 5, 2022, featuring the maritime paintings of local artists Robert J. Hauschild 1941-2012, Phil Cutting 1934-2017, and John McGuire. We welcome all visitors to the CT Maritime Heritage Festival on Sat. Sep 9, 22 through the weekend, to our maritime themed exhibit. Robert J. Hauschild’s father was a commercial artist, as a child he was given full access to paint, paper, and brushes, his favorite watercolor and acrylic paintings would include what he knew-his early playground along a river with ferries, tugs, and lighthouses. Hallmarks of his paintings are hard edges, dramatic shadows and stark contrasts between dark and light falling upon the surface of the canvas. His work has been described as surreal and mystical in style and subject. His watercolor paintings have been reproduced on four New London Main Street posters. Phil Cutting, known as “Capt. Phil” professionally, was a radio personality and marine reporter. He loved anything to do with Long Island Sound, in his retirement he volunteered at Mystic Seaport and became an avid watercolor and pastel artist. John McGuire paints watercolor landscapes and seascapes based out of the New London – Waterford, CT area, Studio 33 carries his beautiful greeting cards featuring his watercolors of local scenes as well!

      FIRE TRUCK TO VISIT OUTDOOR FALL STORY TIME AT THE BILL MEMORIAL LIBRARY!

      Hurry, hurry, drive the firetruck! On Monday, October 3, 2022, the City of Groton Fire Department will bring a firetruck for kids to explore after our stories are read!
      The Bill Memorial Library in the City of Groton invites families to join Miss Mary-Jane as we continue Outdoor Story Time this fall under our shady tree. Our sessions will be Mondays at 10:00 a.m. through November 7. In the event of inclement weather the program will move inside the library. This story time is for all ages and features stories, fingerplays and songs with live music. Bring your own chairs or blankets or sit on our benches and bundle up!       In the event of bad weather, the firetruck will come to the library on Monday, October 17.

      Calling all painters, photographers, and fiber artists! Submit your work to “Save a Horse – Buy Art”, a juried art show taking place at the Essex Art Association (10 North Main St, Essex, CT) from October 21-23, 2022 to benefit the CT Draft Horse Rescue. Awards will be: Best of Show, Viewers’ Pick, Best Painting, Best Photo, Best Fiber Art. This year’s theme is comprised of four words: Connecticut, Draft, Horse, and/or Rescue.
