If we HAVE to go through the month of February, at least we can enjoy the ice.

I’m not referring to the kind that slicks up the sidewalk or creates icicles hanging from every gutter.

No, this is the fun kind of ice.

Meaning: ice sculptures and everything to do with the Ice in the Village event at Olde Mistick Village.

The festivities run Saturday and Sunday. Those ice sculptures will be on view from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. (No sculptures/fest Friday because of the warm temps.) And see how those artistic creations are made during the live ice sculpture carving demonstration at 11 a.m. Saturday at the gazebo.

There’s a scavenger hunt available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. During the same time frame, children and families can take part in a costume contest by sharing their costumed photos using the hashtag #IceInTheVillage. Trophies go to the top three princesses and pirates, who are announced on Sunday night. Oh, and the top three dogs get a treat, too.
