Connecticut Storytelling Center hosts Under the Umbrella
Here’s an intriguing concept: Under the Umbrella is a spoken word event where people share their stories that were never meant to be shared. We’re talking texts, emails, journals, and on it goes.
Under the Umbrella is making its debut in America with a Saturday program in New London hosted by the Connecticut Storytelling Center (CSC). It will be held at the Thames Club.
The CSC is partnering with the program’s creator, Danielle Giroux, for the event. Giroux had run a stand-up show dubbed “Coucou Comedy” but then started Under the Umbrella, “where the community comes together to practice radical vulnerability and cathartic cringe,” according to the organizers.
Under the Umbrella, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Thames Club, 290 State St., New London; free; wine and cheese offered, donations accepted; (860) 934-8165, info@connstorycenter.org.
