I don’t know if many people in this part of Connecticut quite understand how magical a good bowl of ramen can be. That might be because we don’t really have a restaurant dedicated solely to making good ramen. But if you’re willing to drive to New Haven, you can find heaven in a bowl at Mecha Noodle Bar. The restaurant, which is located downtown on Crown Street, is modern yet cozy and boasts a small menu for easy ordering. Try one of their four ramen options, and you really can’t go wrong. I recommend the pork ramen bowl, but there is also a vegetarian option for non-meat eaters, which is equally good. On the side, enjoy a Temple of the Sun bubble tea — its tanginess will balance out the savory qualities of the ramen perfectly.
