Food tip — Extra Buttery Caramel Corn

Food tip

Extra Buttery Caramel Corn, Legends, Plano, Texas

A fat man's disclosure: My nephew Jack, a high school senior in Plano, Texas, works part-time at a gourmet popcorn shop called Legends. Each Christmas, my wife Eileen and I get a sampler pack from Legends and, in the most recent, they included Extra Buttery Caramel Corn. Look, these are dangerous and tragic times, so it's not proper to make jokes such as "The Legends Extra Buttery Caramel Corn is heroin-strength." But ... well, for my birthday, all I wanted was a Santa-style sack of EBCC — and Eileen delivered in a big way. I'm not saying you can't find extra buttery caramel corn somewhere besides where my nephew works (and, no, he doesn't get a commission). But this stuff is one of the greatest snack products ever created. Those segments where the butter and caramel melt together in a brittle crust are so great I'd gnaw my own ear off to get to it. There are several sizes and gift containers available, and prices run from about $5 to $40. — and, no, I'm not getting a kickback or free corn, either.
