Food tip: Vegetable croissant, Sift Bake Shop, Mystic
Sift Bake Shop
5 Water St., Mystic
Don’t get all judgy when I tell you this, but when I stopped into Sift recently, I bought three things. Three! All for me. I loved each one, but the vegetable croissant might have edged out the other two concoctions. When I was eating the veggie-stuffed pastry in the newsroom, someone walking by stopped and said, “Whose lunch smells so good?” The croissant ($3.25) is stuffed with spinach, sun-dried tomato, garlic, feta, and Parmesan, and it’s topped with white sesame seeds. Savory deliciousness. For sweetness, I was very happy with a chocolate walnut sea salt cookie ($2.95 and as big as my head) and a chocolate croissant ($3.25, also as big as my head). Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to have to go for a 20-mile run to work some of this off.
