Montville — St. Bernard School won its fourth straight game and moved within a win of qualifying for the Class S state tournament with a 36-29 Eastern Connecticut Conference Division III girls' basketball victory over Lyman Memorial on Friday night.

The Saints (7-11, 4-6) can return to the state tournament with a win over Griswold at home on Tuesday night.

Junior Emily Nelson scored 18 points to lead St. Bernard while sophomore Carly Potts added 12 and Emily Smith, who recently returned from an injury, had six steals.

In other games:

• Waterford beat Woodstock Academy 35-28 in an ECC Division II game, dropping Woodstock into a three-way tie for first with Bacon and Stonington. Rekah Sanders' basket off a pass from Julianna Bonilla with 2:30 left in the game gave the Lancers (9-8, 4-3) the lead for good. Sanders had eight points and 14 rebounds and Bonilla had 12 rebounds. Woodstock is 13-5, 6-2. 

• Molly Butremovic had eight points and 10 rebounds while Emma Morgan added eight points and six steals as Wheeler won its third straight game with a 41-36 win over Tourtellotte in ECC Division III. Savannah Galluci led the Lions (6-11, 2-8) with nine points while Sam Caster added eight.

• Megan Bauman (21 points), Nadia Tarhini (12) and Sophie Dubreuil (11) all reached double figures to help East Lyme beat Ledyard, 54-34, and improve to 11-7, 4-3 ECC Division I. Sarah Serbascewicz paced the Colonels (6-10, 1-5) with 18 points.

• Ten players scored at least two points for NFA in a 49-18 win over Fitch. Jenessa Verela led the Wildcats (10-8, 4-2 ECC Division I) with nine points, while Riley Ellington, Sarah Ericson and Aaliyah Britton all scored six points. The Falcons are 1-15, 0-6.

• Miranda Arruda's 11 points, 11 rebounds and five steals highlighted Stonington's 43-26 victory over Montville in ECC Division II. Kate Hall led the Bears (11-5, 6-2) with 12 points while Kate Johnson added 11 and Eliza Bell had 18 rebounds. Emmiley Genua had nine points and three steals for the Indians (5-11, 0-7) while Emily Meigs added seven points and 11 rebounds.

• Jordan Lewis scored 16 of her 20 points in the first half and was one of five Old Lyme players to reach double figures during a 67-48 win over Portland in the Shoreline Conference. The Wildcats (10-5, 9-5) led 22-20 after the first quarter, but took charge when they outscored the Highlanders 19-9 in the second. Audrey Gavin added 13 for Old Lyme while Maddie Zrenda added 12, Britney DeRoehn 10 and Emma McCulloch 10.

• Windham Tech outlasted Norwich Tech 40-32 in the Connecticut Technical Conference. Erin McBride led the Warriors with nine points and Julia Robert added eight.

Boys

• Marquis Jackson scored 22 points as Stonington beat Montville 92-42 in an ECC Division II game. Jacob Geary had 15 points and 13 rebounds, Lennox Deer had nine points and 10 assists and Jackson had six rebounds and six steals for the Bears (8-8, 5-2). John Domijan scored 11 for Montville (3-11, 0-6).

• Joseph Beltran and Stanley Maynard scored 15 points apiece as St. Bernard won its fifth straight game with a 70-51 ECC Division III win over Lyman Memorial. The Saints (14-2, 7-1) share first place in the division with Plainfield.

• Mikey Buscetto had 18 points and eight assists as Waterford beat Woodstock 63-54 in an ECC Division II game. Walker Sutman and Trevor Yeomans scored 13 points each, Omar Rahman scored 10, Liam Spellman had five rebounds ans six steals and Sutman had eight rebounds for Waterford (13-2, 6-0).

• Tourtellotte outlasted Wheeler 50-41 in ECC Division III. Bowen Baker had 15 points and seven rebounds for the Lions (2-13, 0-8), who have lost eighth straight.

• Aedan Using scored a team-high 27 points to help Old Lyme hold off Portland, 63-61, in the Shoreline Conference. Brady Sheffield and Quinn Romeo added 15 and 10 points, respectively, for the Wildcats (11-4, 10-3).

• Zain Alam scored 20 points, but Williams lost to Oxford 52-50. Grayson Guinan added 15 for the Blues.
