    H.S. tennis: East Lyme boys finish perfect for third straight season

    Stonington — East Lyme completed its third consecutive perfect season with a 7-0 boys' tennis victory over Stonington on Monday.

    The Vikings (12-0) have won 40 straight matches, their last loss coming on the final day of the 2015 season to Waterford, 4-3. East Lyme has also won 12 straight Eastern Connecticut Conference divisional titles.

    Finn Power, Davon Chen, Eric Gu and Sumeet Kadian were all straight-set singles winners as were the doubles teams of Conard French-Sujesh Kurumbail, Jonathan Tan-Guillem Colon and Ethan Stewart-Sam Gresh. 

    Girls

    • Stonington's Holly Foster and Cassie Onorato outlasted Sophia Rogers and Becca Paggioli in three sets, 6-0, 3-6, 6-4, to highlight the Bears' 6-1 win over East Lyme in a matchup of ECC divisional champions. Stonington (15-1) also earned wins from its doubles teams of Margot Goodman-Ainsley Johnstone and Phoebe Townsend-Brie Fratoni-Jaskiewicz, along with singles players Charlotte Johnstone, Makenzie Sadler and Hannah Middleton. Ashley Brown rallied for a three-set win at No. 4 singles for the Vikings (10-2).

    • New London swept all three doubles matches en route to a 6-1 season-ending win over Bacon Academy. The teams of Alaysia Thomas-Keren Gabriel, Neyssa Jean Michele-Junie Dulcice and Tessa Rock-Isabel Rio Sayago were straight-set winners for the Whalers, who finish 7-9, while Zara Dobson, George Anne Amar and Francesca Ledoux won singles matches. Caroline Banning won at No. 1 singles for Bacon.

    • Sophie Wang, Anna Justin, Stacey Tasoulas and Catherine Yao all won at singles for Waterford in its 5-2 win over Lyman Memorial. Bella Piccione and Destiny Hsieh won at number two doubles for Waterford (9-7).

    • Fitch cruised to a 7-0 win over Bacon. Samantha Cote, Sneha Kumar, Kavita Srirangam and Greysan Scherer won singles matches for the Falcons (8-5) as did the doubles teams of Charlina Holloway-Emmy Powdrill, Holly Rogers-Hayden Kowalski and Fiona Kennedy-Nyseanah Ismael.

    • Keelin Hurtt rallied for a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles to highlight Old Lyme's 6-1 win over North Branford in the Shoreline Conference. Brynn McGlinchey also won in three sets for the Wildcats while Emma Bass added a singles win and Old Lyme picked up doubles wins from Shannon Nosal-Kellie Sablone, Samantha Caulkins-Emily O'Brien and Hannah Wisner-Melissa Mauro.

    • Norwich Tech ended its season by splitting a Connecticut Technical Conference doubleheader at home. The Warriors (3-7, 3-5) edged Abbott Tech 4-3 in the opener before losing to Platt Tech 6-1. Against Abbott, Makayla Carson, Emily Cherwin and Kelsey Wiliams won singles matches while Cherwin and Carson teamed up to win a No. 1 doubles. Cherwin and Williams also won at No. 1 doubles against Platt Tech.
