    H.S. lacrosse roundup: DeLucia reaches milestone as Montville tops NFA

    Norwich — Alexis DeLucia scored nine goals, including the 100th of her career, to power Montville past Norwich Free Academy, 17-6, in a high school girls' lacrosse opener on Saturday. 

    Maddie Gould chipped in four goals for the Indians, who scored 10 goals in the second half to pull away. Kenzie Ullrich had two goals and an assist while Nia Muckenthaler added a goal and an assist while Chloe Smith also scored and Ellie Bowman and DeLucia had two assists apiece. Goalie Madeline Horkey made eight saves.

    Mackenzie Shrewsbury scored three goals for the Wildcats who also received one goal apiece from Mackenzie Teper, Bridget Hinsch and Mirra Fontaine.

    In other games:

    • Ally Gasparino scored four goals in Griswold's 8-7 win over Ledyard. Cassidy Carroll led Ledyard with three goals and an assist while Missie Archer scored twice, Kaitlin Flynn had a goal and an assist and Maddie Pipech scored a goal. 

    • Grace Biggs had four goals and Olivia Gianakos added three in Waterford's 16-8 loss to Branford. Ashley Brandt had a goal and Emily Close an assist for the Lancers. 

    • Kate Johnson scored four goals and Hannah Lamb added three in Stonington's 12-9 win over Valley Regional.

    Boys

    • Jacob Foster had a goal and an assist to lift Ledyard/Griswold past Old Saybrook, 6-3. Ryan Kinney, Isiah Spaulding, Cameron Reynolds, Seamus McGrath and Kaine Sherman also scored for the Colonels while Armaun Bakhshallizadeh added an assist and goalie Seth Hurt had 12 saves.

    • Caleb Holdridge had four goals and four assists as Waterford beat St. Bernard/Wheeler 10-4. Ryan Huta scored twice and Mason LaForte had a goal and an assist for Waterford. Scott Pion scored three goals for St. Bernard/Wheeler. 

    • Rob Swenson scored four goals and had four assists to help East Lyme defeat North Haven, 9-7, in a nonleague game. Ben Jakubczak had two goals while Scott Galbo added two goals and an assist and Alex Jakubczak also scored for the Vikings. Goalie Eric Brodeur had 12 saves.

    • Ben Huynh scored in overtime to lift Stonington to a 9-8 win over Old Lyme. Mike Kolesnik had four goals and an assist, Alec Spiers had three goals and an assist and Corbin Caulkins also scored for Old Lyme.
