Ridgefield, Ansonia move into The Day's Top 10 football poll
It didn’t take long for The Day's high school state football coaches’ poll to get rearranged a bit.
Ridgefield (eighth) and Ansonia (ninth) make their season debuts in the coaches’ poll after three Top 10 teams lost during Week 2.
Ridgefield beat then-No. 4 New Canaan 17-14 last Friday on a game-ending field goal. The Tigers are 2-0.
New Canaan (1-1) fell to 10th.
There were also two games last Friday in which both teams were ranked — Darien beat Southington (24-8) and Newtown edged Fairfield Prep (21-14).
Darien (2-0) moved two spots up to No. 3, and Newtown (2-0) jumped three spots to fifth.
Prep and Southington both dropped from the poll.
Hand (2-0) remains No. 1 and received 12 of 13 first-place votes. No. 2 Greenwich (2-0) received the other first-place vote.
Norwich Free Academy (2-0) is the only area team receiving votes. It plays at No. 6 Shelton (2-0) on Friday night.
