Shannon and Jones make it a day of running

Norwich Free Academy track athletes Catie Shannon, 18, left, and Sophia Jones, 15, cross their start/finish line at the end of one mile through their Norwich neighborhood as part of a 24-miles in 24-hours challenge Tuesday, May 26, 2020. The pair are teammates on NFA´s indoor track 4x800 relay team that was headed for the New Balance Indoor Nationals track and field meet in March before it was cancelled. Shannon got the idea for the challenge and suggested it to her neighbor teammate as a way to kick off their summer training. The pair started running their hourly mile at 9 p.m. on Monday and ran their 8-minute miles on top of each hour through out the day. “This whole thing is fueled by pasta, caffeine, and Gatorade gummies,'' quipped Shannon.
