H.S. roundup: Stonington boys beat Montville for 11th straight victory

Stonington — The Stonington boys' soccer team won its 11th straight game, beating Montville 4-0 on Saturday.

The Bears (11-1) fell to Ledyard 6-2 in their season opener on Sept. 9 and haven't lost since. Sam Montalto had a goal and two assists, Billy deCastro and Will Sawin had a goal and an assist each and Ryan Turner scored a goal for Stonington. Adonis Santiago made 11 saves for Montville (7-3-1).

In other games:

• Nick Washington scored twice as Ledyard beat Woodstock 3-1 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II game. Daimon Pollard had a goal and an assist, Paulo Templeton made five saves and Cam Weber had an assist for Ledyard (10-1, 4-0).

• St. Bernard remained unbeaten in ECC Division IV play with a 4-0 win over Putnam. Dominic Ranelli, Luke Brannegan, Jose Pacheco and Aiden Jakubielski scored goals and Nate Belchik made three saves for St. Bernard (8-2-1, 6-0).

• Daylan Griffin's goal in the 52nd minute broke a 1-1 tie and lifted Lyman Memorial to a 2-1 win over Killingly in an ECC Division III game. Bennett Murphy's goal off a penalty kick in the 38th minute tied the game for Lyman (3-4-3, 2-1-2) and teammate Josh Person made three saves.

• East Lyme lost to Old Saybrook 2-0 in a nonleague game. Connor Piper and Ben Johnson combined for six saves for East Lyme (4-7-1). Cameron DeAngelo scored once in each half for Old Saybrook (12-0-1).

Girls' soccer

• Williams School lost to Marianapolis 9-1 on Friday. Maria Morant scored the goal and Natalie Boissevain made five saves for Williams.

Field hockey

• Joyce Mak scored three goals as Waterford beat Westbrook/Old Lyme 7-2 in a nonleague game. Kam Mazzulli, Genne Peruccio, Lauren Montanari and Lauren Santos scored goals for Waterford (3-6-2).

• Sarah Healy had a goal and an assist as East Lyme beat Fitch 2-1 in an ECC game. Caroline Daugherity had a goal, Gracie Lloyd had an assist and Jaci Felix made eight saves for East Lyme (5-5-1, 5-2-1). Ashleigh Holmes scored a goal and Abriel Carey made two saves for Fitch (7-3-1, 5-2-1). 

Cross country

• Williams School runners Philip Knowlton and Helen Godshall each finished fifth in their respective races at the Hamden Hall Homecoming Invitational. Knowlton (20:12) was joined in the top 10 in the boys' race by teammate Tyler Boissevain (8th, 20:56). Godshall's time in the girls' race was 26:37.

Volleyball

• Montville beat Plainfield 3-2 in an ECC Division III match on Friday night. Maya Hillman had 10 kills, eight blocks and five digs, Christyna Winstead had 13 kills and three digs and Abby Luyten had 15 assists and six kills for Montville (6-9, 2-3).
