    High school roundup: Walsh's 3-pointer at the buzzer gives Vikings a win

    Meriden — Riley Walsh made a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift the East Lyme boys' basketball team to a 43-40 win over Platt on Wednesday in the Platt Holiday tournament.

    The Vikings (4-1) face Wilton for the title on Thursday at 1 p.m. Walsh finished with 23 points and Will Anglin scored eight points for East Lyme.

    In other games:

    • Julius Goode scored 21 points to lead Grasso Tech to a 69-56 win over Wheeler in the final of the Grasso Tech Holiday tournament. Domonick Martinez and Charis Johnson had 16 points each for Grasso (2-2). Kyle Kessler and Zane Brewer had 19 points each for Wheeler (2-3). Norwich Tech beat Montville 58-32 in the consolation game.

    • Devan Williams and Cedric Similien scored 12 points each as St. Bernard beat Smithfield (R.I.) 53-41 in the Fitch tournament final. Tyson Wheeler had 11 points for the Saints (6-0). 

    Girls' basketball

    • Montville beat Old Saybrook 43-29 in the final of the Montville Holiday tournament. Jada Cheung scored 22 points and had six steals and Maya Hillman had nine points, 11 rebounds, eight steals and blocked four shots for Montville (3-3). Sophia Barker had 11 points and Breleigh Cooke scored 10 for Old Saybrook.

    • Addie Hauptmann scored 23 points, leading Wheeler to a 47-23 win over Norwich Tech in the consolation game of the Montville Holiday tournament. Hayden Bresnan had 10 points and Hauptmann had 13 rebounds and seven steals for Wheeler (2-4). Ashlyn Bill led Norwich Tech (0-5) with 11 points.

    • E.O. Smith handed Bacon Academy its first loss of the season, winning the nonleague game 50-38. Claire Greene scored 10 of her 13 points in the second half for E.O. Smith (4-1), which ended the game on a 7-1 run. Marissa Nudd had 13 points and eight rebounds and Valerie Luizzi scored 10 for Bacon (6-1). 

    • Waterford won its fourth straight game, beating East Lyme 42-31 on Tuesday. Julia Knowles had 17 points and 10 rebounds, Milly Walker scored 10 with 12 rebounds and Mia Chiappone had five rebounds and four assists for Waterford (4-2). Izzy Pazzaglia scored 14 points and Kaitlyn Diloreto had eight rebounds for East Lyme (0-5).

    • Westerly beat Stonington 48-37 in the Westerly Holiday Classic on Tuesday night. Anne Drago scored 19 points, Sophia Fernholz had 12 rebounds and Gaby Dimock had eight points and eight rebounds for Stonington (2-4).
