Ledyard — Ledyard's Daimon Pollard, a four-year varsity player who started every game during his career, signed a National Letter of Intent on Thursday to play soccer at Division I Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I.

Pollard, who was named a first-team Eastern Connecticut Conference all-star three teams and a Class M all-state selection twice, teamed with fellow senior and All-American Nick Washington to form one of the most dynamic 1-2 punches in school and ECC history.

The forward leaves the program with a school-record 48 career assists while scoring 61 goals. He also holds the single-season assist record with 20. The Colonels won a pair of ECC divisional titles, played in two ECC tournament championship games and reached the Class M state semifinals twice during his four seasons.

"Daimon Pollard has a passion for soccer that was evident the moment he stepped into our building as a freshman student-athlete," Ledyard athletic director Jim Buonocore said in a release. "Daimon is studious, determined and extremely loyal. He represented our soccer program and athletic department with spirit, class and determination over the past four years.

"He contributed to an ultra-successful four year run with our soccer program and we are appreciative of his efforts and proud of the fact that he has put himself in position to continue his academic and athletic career at Bryant University."

Pollard said, "I am thankful for the opportunities that Ledyard High School athletics and the soccer program has afforded me the last four years. Coach (Bill) Glenney and my teammates have been a big part of my high school career and a huge reason why I am in this position today. Bryant University is an outstanding school with a first-class soccer program and coaching staff. I am looking forward to working with my coaches, my new teammates and the challenge that lies ahead."
