Directions: From I-95 northbound, take Exit 83, left at end of ramp, up hill to intersection, right at light onto 32 north.From I-95 southbound, take Exit 84 to Route 32 north.Once on 32, go one mile and turn left at entrance to Connecticut College; drive straight across campus, exiting at gate by Harkness Chapel onto Williams Street. Arboretum is ahead straight across Williams Street at the double wrought iron gates with large golden leaves.
Where to Park: Visitors can park along Williams Street if space is available. South parking lot on campus is also available. Visitors must obtain a parking permit from the guardhouse of the Route 32 entrance to park on campus.
Description: More than 100 acres with marked, mostly flat trails through various natural and landscaped habitats, plus collections of holly, conifers and flowering shrubs and laurel and other types. The wildflower garden is especially lovely in the springtime. Remarking of trails by local scouts is expected to be completed by summer 2010.
Regulations: Dogs on a leash permitted; no jogging or bicycles allowed.
Amenities: Kiosk at entrance with self-guided tour brochures; bags provided for dog waste. Common native trees are labeled for identification.
Natural Features: Variety of habitats including pond and bog areas, the Bolleswood Natural Area forest, meadows and swamps.
Fees: Free.
