In reference to David Collins' column, “A New London welcome: Speed trap,” (Aug. 30), about speed traps on Route 32. I think speed traps are an excellent idea. Hopefully, this will slow potential speeders to the posted speed limit before they enter New London where the speed limit is 25 miles per hour. Obey the posted speed limit and you will not be cited. Disobey the speed limit, get caught and receive the citation you so richly deserve.

People who complain about the posted speed limit and disobey should witness the serious speeding accidents and see some of the results, devastation, injuries and death. The New London Police are doing what they are supposed to be doing, keeping the public safe. Kudos to the New London Police Department.
