Republicans push terrible tax overhaul plan

Republicans are proposing a tax plan that will actually raise taxes for 50 percent of Americans by 2027 (and virtually all making less than $75,000 per year) according to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center. This plan will increase our debt as a share of GDP by over 5 percent by 2027 ($1.5 -$2 trillion), and by more than 9 percent by 2037, and trigger mandatory cuts to Medicare beginning in January 2018, while giving 80 percent of the tax benefits to the top 1 percent (their donors)!

Republicans say that the cuts for the middle class that are written to expire in five years are just a gimmick to allow the tax bill to be passed without Democrats, and will surely be extended by a future Congress. Obviously, this will only further increase our debt (my granddaughter thanks you in advance!).

And worse, the Senate plan currently eliminates the individual mandate which will leave 13 million more Americans without health insurance, and raise costs for the rest of us by 1 percent. What’s not to love?
