Sessions sends 'angels' to a cruel fate
It’s been said that the devil quotes Scripture for his own purpose. So apparently does our attorney general, Jeff Sessions. In defending the government’s harsh policy of seizing and separating — sometimes for months — children from their parents who have illegally crossed the U.S. border, Sessions paraphrases Romans 13:1 by pompously declaring that since God’s laws are ordained for the purpose of civil order, those who break American laws by jumping the border are breaking God’s laws. Therefore, according to his logic, they bring this cruel outcome upon themselves.
Well, here’s back at you, Attorney General Sessions: In Hebrews 13:2, we are reminded, “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby, some have entertained angels unawares.”
